I am a New Zealand citizen with an Australian permanent residence.
I forgot to apply for a returning resident visa before taking a short trip overseas. I’m about to return in a few days and have quickly made an online application for this visa but am doubtful that it will be approved before I am back in Australia.
This is a mistake on my behalf and I’m concerned that this affects my permanent residence, which was not easy to get - and also my chances of applying for an Au citizenship application.
(I am reasonably confident that I can return into the country as a New Zealand citizen.)
Can anyone suggest what I could consider doing, both in the few days before I return, and how I should discuss this with the customs officer when I arrive?
