Is there a criminal law penalty for knowingly supplying false information when registering a death? A person who was the de facto of my husband's deceased brother filled out the registration form and put her son from a previous marriage down as a child of the deceased despite not being born to or adopted by him. Would this mean the death certificate is invalid?

  1. In the end, the will is the main game.
Is the de facto the executor?

  2. If you believe that the certificate contains errors
(no matter if accidental or deliberate),
then you should contact the Registry.
The Registrar has the power to enquire into the accuracy of an application.
