WA Contractors Giving Incorrect Bank Account Details - Extra Payments?

    We pay casual independent contractors at the end of every month. Some don't put in their correct bank account details, so they don't get paid in the payrun. Are we then responsible for making extra payments to them? And if so, can we impose a processing fee? And what timeframe should we do this?

    This can all just come down to your business policy. Develop a policy and print it on your contracts with contractors etc or send them all an email letting them know what the policy is> i.e. if you provide incorrect bank details and don't get paid in pay run, then will have to wait until next week and any fees incurred as a result of incorrect bank details provided will come off their pay.

    There's no real laws in this regard, as long as your policy is reasonable and the contractors are made aware of it before they do the work.
