After separation, can I or my ex apply for child support?

If I apply for child support about 6 months after the separation, then who has to pay the expenses for the child before the child support payment and after separation?

When I pay the child support, do I have to pay any other expenses?

Thanks in advance.

Child support only becomes payable once an application is made. So if it took 6 months for someone to make an application, then that person has lost that 6 months. They should have applied sooner.

Child support is all a parent is expected to pay. My ex thought I should pay for child support, half her rent, the kids swimming lesson, child care, haircuts, shoes , etc. I said nope - then my ex told me that she will get the money out of me through the child support agency, but that didn't happen because they refused to accept her stupidity.
