I bought a car September 2014 with warranty and car insurance and within 3 months I have had nothing but problems with it. I took the car back to the dealership 4 times within 2 months the problem is still not fixed. I have had 3 other mechanics and specialists look at it and they are still unable to find the problem.

I have had many people in the area that have dealt with this particular dealer and have all had problems with cars bought from there.

I am just wondering what my legal rights under Australian Consumer Law are with the car and dealership. As my car has not been working properly for over 9 months now and the dealership just keep saying they can't do anything about it.

Hi Shawna,

Take a read of the following articles to understand your rights under Australian Consumer Law a bit better:
In short, you sound like you are protected under the ACL and may have some recourse under it. You should contact Consumer Affairs Victoria for some free advice and possibly lodge a complaint, which will have them assist you in your dispute with the car dealer.
