VIC Can Suspect Become a Crown Witness in a Murder Trial?

Can a person who has been suspected, arrested and held in custody by police for a murder then be released from custody to become a crown witness for the prosecution for the same murder case?

There is no law I know of that would prevent this. Anyone can be subpoenaed to provide evidence to a court.
