Hey I was just wondering if I could sue someone privately or not. I dont want any details of the case to become public knowledge.

Can my lawyer contact their lawyer and sort it out privately, or does it have to be public?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can ask to have pseudonyms used but this will not be granted unless there is some substantial justification (eg victim of sex assault)

Lawyer can always talk privately. If I was on the other side I'd be reluctant for my client to do anything until a case was filed. Weeds out the serious people from the merely threatening. Though a demand letter from a lawyer is the best way of starting the dispute and does indicate some seriousness.

I wonder why the same question, worded almost exactly the same way, has resurfaced?
