VIC Bridging Visa - Can Ex Still Get Permanent Residency?

My ex-partner is currently on a bridging visa. My understanding is that the reason he's on a bridging visa is to determine if my child is his and if he's going to get shared custody of children.

My question is, if the DNA testing results come back and he is the father of my child, what is the likely chance of him get permanent residency in Australia? Can he still get deported?

The question of a grant of a further visa is complex.
Merely having a child in Australia is not always and automatically grounds to get to stay.

The visa process and the Family Law processes are separate,
and will trip over each other.
