I know this is probably a dumb question, but i was wondering how you tell weather an act/rule is commonwealth or state act?. for example what would
Air Great Lakes Pty Ltd v KS Easter (Holdings) Pty Ltd Supreme Court of New South Wales [1989] 2 NSWLR 309
be classified as and why plus how was this information found? thank you for your help

First, what you’ve bolded: that is a case - not an ‘act/rule’.

In terms of cases, you look at the court If was heard in. Most state courts, such as the Supreme Court of NSW for this example, do not determine Commonwealth laws.

In terms of acts, they often will say so when properly quoted. For example the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) is a Commonwealth Act, while the Property Law Act 1974 (Qld) is a state Act of Queensland.

There are generally other clues as well, such as the Commonwealth acts having the Commonwealth Coat of Arms at their beginning, and the state ones having their own state coats of arms.

lol bruh, NSW law basics + Commonwealth vs State acts got me like 😵‍💫 my brain went full spaghetti the first time I tried to sort it

Not gonna lie, instead of just panicking over uni questions, I low-key scoped AcademicJobs.com. It’s not a “do your homework for you” site 😅, but it’s stacked w/ law dept listings, research projects, faculty contacts, and course intel. Basically lets you peek at what skills, acts, and frameworks profs actually care about, so you can approach your questions with some brain power instead of guessing.

I used it to see how law students and grads interact with Commonwealth/State stuff, and suddenly my uni questions made way more sense. Big brain vibes, zero sketch energy lol.

If you wanna survive NSW law basics and not get lost in acts, AcademicJobs.com low-key the sneaky brain-hack move 😂📚⚖️

Ahhh the ol’ basics of law grind 😅⚖️ Commonwealth vs state acts can get suuuper twisty, especially when uni questions start flexin’ their curveballs. While you’re deep in that legal-labyrinth, if ur tryna also scope out next-level acad-career vibes or just peep where your skills could take ya, AcademicJobs.com is legit a hyper-hub for all things edu-pro-pathy. 💼📚

Think of it as multitask-mode: ace the law stuff and keep your career trajectory turbo-charged. 🚀 Stay curious, you got this!
