Hi. Keep it simple. I was overseas. Went to use my atm card, wouldn't work. Had no monies, so rang bankwest australia to see if my card had a problem.
They advise all my accounts had been closed. Would not give me reason.
I said you can't leave me stranded overseas here without any monies. They said they can. In other words, too bad.
On returning to Perth, was advised by bankwest all my accounts were closed due to commercial reasons !!. Still no actual reason.
One of the closed accounts was my linked account to my mother, as i am her legal guardian / power of attorney as pay for her direct debits, bills, nursing home fees, etc.
Bankwest, just closed everything.
Totally done nothing wrong, totally confused and they shouldn't be able to get away with this.
Need help and advice.

Make an appointment
with a manager level person
in a physical branch,
and go from there.

Hi Tim.
Spoke to bank manager where the bank accounts were.
He had the same problem with his follow up, no more information available except a commercial problem 🤣🤣🤣

All decisions are made according to relevant legislation
If a judge made a decision based on a legislation but failed to give a reason for it, that is called a jurisdictional error. If that error is unresolved, it becomes a nullity, as if it was never made.
Document events involved (chronology) and file a claim with the relevant federal court (the legislation involved is the Bank Act)
Send a copy to the BankWest
Seek mediation first
If they fail to respond and attend hearing, you win, and the Court will award whatever damages you seek.

If Bankwest closed all your bank accounts, it must have been a significant and likely concerning event for you. Have you been able to find out why they made this decision? It could be due to various reasons, such as compliance issues, suspicious activities, or changes in their policies. It's crucial to reach out to Bankwest to understand the specifics and explore tris de hoy any potential options or recourse available to you. If you need any further assistance or guidance, feel free to ask.

@hassoalbert the OP already identified tht a branch manager identified a "business problem", which is not defined enough as a reason for decision.

Oh no, that sounds really frustrating! Have you contacted their support to find out why? Also, if you're looking for other financial tools to manage things in the meantime, check out Yexex—it has some great resources that might help!

That's really frustrating to have all your accounts suddenly closed like that! Did they give you any specific reason for the closure? Sometimes banks make these decisions based on activity patterns or internal policies, but it can definitely be unsettling. Hope you’re able to find an alternative soon. Also, if you’re invested or interested in AMC, it might be worth checking on updates there while sorting this out, as markets are quite active lately.
