I have a question about the new alcohol interlock system. The law only came through last year and i have had a infringement since that law was bought in the law states that if you have 2 drink driving infringements in a 5 year period that you will have to have a breath device fitted to your car but my first infringement was 2 or 3 years before the law was bought in but they insist that they are able to backdate. Is this legally correct? I have also received a punishment from the courts of suspended licence and fine though the matter was dealt with only to find that someone else wanted a piece of the pie as well. Is there such a thing as double jeopardy and does it apply here?
