Hi - I received a speeding ticket from the NT police whilst heading back to Alice Springs and trying to get there before dark. My fault entirely.

Just looking into paying it, but I notice that the notice is not filled in - the police officer has not signed his name, not printed his name, not provided his rank and number, and not provided the station name.

I'm in the UK, and I was on vacation. In the UK, an incorrectly completed document is a reason to dispute, but in this case, I cannot even identify the officer involved.

Is it a requirement for the NT police to provide this identification in order to validate the ticket?

I'm planning on paying it as I intend to come back to Australia at some point and don't want to risk any visa issues (very unlikely to revisit the NT; primarily WA), but just wanted to check before I part with cash.

Thanks for any guidance or advice.

I guess you were driving a rental? right? and that is how you got the ticket or it could be who owned the car, forwarded the infringement to you, either way you were identified, from my knowledge, admin errors (let's call them this) are no reason for the infringement to be invalid, so I think you are still responsible and should pay it, don't risk it, I maybe wrong, if so, someone should correct me.

Thanks, Adam. It was a rental car, and the ticket was issued by the roadside by a police officer. He has used an incorrect home address and not completed the form. I wonder if it was because I had a UK licence (which he complained about being unable to read properly?!)

Then there it is, he read mis-read it but that does not mean the ticket is invalid, or you can dispute it. You can ignore it but not advisable, you can call legal aid they may give you a better advice.
