Hello,

At my daughter's school, they've been told that if they cross on the road within 200 metres of the crossing they will be fined $1100?

I'm pretty sure this isn't the traffic law but I'm just checking.

Hi Lolli,

Check out this other post on Jay Walking NSW - Jaywalking NSW - Don't Pay Fine? | LawAnswers.com.au

It is an offence in NSW, but only within 20 meters of a crossing, and its usually only around a $67 on the spot fine.

I'm not sure where they got the 200 and 1100 figures from, perhaps there are some other prevailing road conditions or rules that apply around your daughter's school that we are unaware of?
