I have a friend who has been falsely accused of a charge of "assault, causing harm", that has no merit. He has asked the police prosecutor, and authorized them, to include me in communications, and assist him in his representations to them.

I am not representing him, as I am not qualified, however with legal advice to support him, I feel confident to help him in the pre-trial phase, without the expense of a solicitor. I don't expect it to go to trial.

Does he have a right to this form of support?

Probably, search the term ‘McKenzie friend’ in relation to the court he’s in.
