NSW Recording Private Conversations Without Consent - Privacy?

Need some advice please. My ex has recorded my conversations (voice recording) and has video footage of me whilst in my own home and in my car. Is the legal? And what can I do?

He is showing this footage and recordings to other people also. I have kids in the home as well.

Hi Rissbliss,
I don't know of any laws that would be breached by your ex recording video footage of you per se, depending on what they do with that footage afterward.

With respect to voice conversations being recorded, generally it is illegal to record a conversation unless you have the permission of the other party, and it is almost always illegal to record a telephone call with a device that is attached to the telephone.

If this is an ongoing thing though, I would consider contacting the police as this activity by your ex may amount to stalking. Read this page for some more info: What is Stalking? - NSW Police Online
