My spouse wants property settlement without divorce and without solicitors. I know it is legally possible, but I do not agree on principle.

What do I need to be aware of? Can I ignore/delay/politely say no privately?

People can go through the Family Court process of divorce
without lawyers being involved.
People can also set their own broken legs.
Both are possible, and lawful, but that doesn't mean either one is a good idea.

If you (or she) wants to end the marriage, then divorce via the Family Court
is the only option.

You haven't told us anything much about the background of the family,
nor about the amount and value of the property to be divided,
nor about any children and what will happen to them,
so it's hard to give you many useful suggestions.
