I have been separated from my wife for 15 months (no children from marriage). She has remained in the house and I have continued to contribute towards the mortgage and shared expenses until July this year when I dropped the amount I was paying by taking into account the amount of rent she should contribute.
We were married 8 years.
My question relates to what she might be entitled to now, particularly if I came into a large amount of money (inheritance, lottery win, etc.). Would she be entitled to any portion of this, or not?
My intent would be to ensure she is left comfortable, with paying out the house (if possible), but interested in what she would be legally entitled to?
If she settled (retains the house upon property settlement) could she come back for additional payment later on?
