ACT Property Law - Legal to Write on Footpaths with Chalk?

Hi.

I'm just wondering if it's illegal to draw and/or write on footpaths under Property Law, especially in the ACT?

I've searched and can't really find a definite answer. We're just wanting to write peaceful messages in public places. The chalk would not be permanent, just the usual playground pavement-type of chalk which would wash away after rain.

Can be, but not always.

There is some limited scope for graffiti/urban style art in Canberra.
Outside of that, you might expect to be charged under this provision.

Well, from reading the links it would seem then that chalking anywhere other than the prescribed areas nominated for graffiti then it would be an offence, sadly!
