VIC Police Investigation Evidence - What If They Can't Find Suspect?

There is a current investigation with a person by the police. The victim in the situation still needs to be interviewed by police which is happening in a few days. The main suspect his family plan on hiding him interstate. Would there still be a investigation? What happens if they can't find the other person involves for an interview? If there is a enough evidence to charge and they can't find what happens under evidence law?

Hiding the suspect can be an offence in itself.

Depends on the offence being investigated. If there is enough evidence they can issue charges/warrants without interviewing the suspect. The can also place a 'whereabouts' on the suspect.

Hopefully the investigation will proceed and a court summons will be issued.

That means that the charge is in place and statute of limitations won't apply when the person returns some day.
