VIC Money Owed but No Written Lease Agreement?

Hi,
I had a housemate that wasn't paying rent. There was no written lease agreement but I do have Facebook conversations and text stating how much he'll be paying, I then have him admitting to owing me money but still hasn't paid up.

Do I have any legal rights in this matter?
