Me!!!!! I have a Mazda CX-9 GT 2013 model with the EXACT same issues you have listed. How can we get in touch? I’m currently dealing with Mazda but have only just started the process today.
Hi, how did your case go? If Mazda wasn't very helpful, you can lodge a complaint with Handle My Complaint and they'll help you challenge Mazda's decision. That is if it's a manufacturer's fault (which I believe it is, we just have to prove it). They've been dealing with complaints about other car companies as well--Toyota and Hyundai specifically. You can watch them here:

Me! Our cx9 luxury 2009 is off the road as we speak due to this horrible shudder. The Mazda dealership wouldn’t diagnose it but suggested we see a transmission specialist. I wonder if Slater Gordon would be interested a class action suggestion.
How's your car now?

Hi everybody,

Please read as I think I have found a way to get a positive outcome for everybody who is experiencing this issue. But we need numbers to have a voice!!

I too have the same issue with my 2011 CX-9 despite taking it in while under warranty as the transmission was behaving strangely (a case of every time I took it in it didn't show off the strange sounds). I recently parked it up after receiving a rough estimate of $6000-7000 to repair while deciding what to do and this is what I'm doing...

I have lodged a complaint against Mazda with a company here in Australia that has been taking on some big car companies and getting results for customers. They are called Handle My Complaint and were showcased on A Current Affair about a month ago.

They can see there is a definite issue here and if more people lodge complaints with them about the same issue, there is hope that we can get free repairs or refunds on money spent and even potentially a class action if there are enough people with the same problem.

Sooo....

If you are experiencing the same problem, please lodge your complaint here: https://resolve.handlemycomplaint.com.au
Select Automotive, New or Used vehicle (depending on if you bought it new or used), Manufacturer, Service/repairs
Then select Transfer case and any other issues that apply. Nominate Mazda as the organisation

There is no stress involved in tackling the issue this way. There's no cost involved and you don't have to deal directly with Mazda as Handle My Complaint act as the go between, literally 'handling the complaint' for you.

So there's nothing to lose and everything to gain. Please jump on the website and lodge a complaint and hopefully we can all get some results!
Hi, I have emailed them, because Mazda is not listen in the car list provided by them. They said they will fix this issue.

Hi.
I have just had my car in for diagnostic tests. I already knew it was the transfer case. They said they wouldn't pay to fix it (2009 luxury AWD). I've been quoted $38,000 for the replacement of the transfer case and automatic transmission.
Absolutely disappointed and frankly p*ssed off.
I have lodged a complaint with 'handle my complaint'.
Not sure where to go from here.
Class action? A current affaire?

Hi Kez85
It's not right is it. I wish someone had discovered Handle My Complaint back when the first car owners had issues. I checked in with them a while back and they needed another 4 or 5 people to lodge compliants to have enough to initiate a class action suit. So with yours only another 3 or 4. If you find any other forums please pass the info on. We caved in and had the transfer case in my car replaced because life keeps on going right. Fortunate that it wasn't in as bad a state as yours is. $38K seems over the top! I'm hoping that the momentum with Handle My Complaint keeps going so we all can get some kind of remedy/compensation.

Same thing for us but 2012 and haven’t been able to drive it for 18 months. Just lodged complaint also.

Hey Floyd, thanks for joining the crew of complainants. I’ve been keeping track and I'm pretty sure we only need another 3 people now. 🤞🤞🤞

Hi everyone, I just joined this page and this thread in the hope that I can find out if anyone had a positive outcome with their Transfer Cases in the CX9? I am currently going through this nightmare and not getting anywhere with Mazda so far. I have been quoted $6000 for the TC and box (I have a 2011 model with only 97Kms on it). Love to hear back from anyone if hvae time to reply. Many thanks Melissa
