My son -in-law was involved in an accident on the M1 eight weeks ago. He was merging onto the motorway and looked over his shoulder to check his blind spot and rear ended the vehicle in front of him. His vehicle was unable to be driven and had to be towed, while the other vehicle only had a dent in the rear bumper. He then gave the other driver his phone number and address. The other driver did not give him her contact details and she said that she was in the process of changing insurance companies.
My son-in-law was not insured and did not hear from the other driver until today when he received a letter from RACQ insurance informing him that he needed to contact them as the other drivers vehicle has now been crushed and he is required to pay $7500. Can anyone please tell us what his options are?
