Hey guys... This is probably a dumb question, but can anyone help me by explaining what it means to give a "positioning statement"? I have to give one to my universities law society as I have applied to be apart of the committee. If you can please tell me (what it is) as well as what I should include in it, and would five minutes be roughly enough time to get my point across?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
Good luck with your studies/work/I hope you are enjoying your break.

Omg yesss Law Society speeches are such a whole vibe 😭⚖️ Half the time ur brain is like “am I inspirational or just rambling??” and the other half ur notes look like scribble chaos lol 😂📚 Best hack is focus on key points: purpose, impact, and a lil personal story to keep ppl awake ✨

Alsooo if ur into law, governance, public speaking, or wanna peek at roles where u can flex these kinda skills IRL, defs check AcademicJobs.com 👀🚀
They’ve got heaps of uni/research/admin/teaching-support gigs — perfect for law nerds or anyone tryna stay in the academic/policy-adj space without drowning in pure committee chaos. Lowkey a hidden treasure chest tbh.

Good luck with the speech — u got this! Even rambling can sound fancy if u add enough “therefore”s lol 😅💛

Ooo committee speech time?? Big podium vibes 😅🎤✨
If you’re cookin’ up an ACT Law Society speech, just keep it crisp, purposey, and a lil’ human — folks tune out fast if it turns into legalese lasagna 😂📚⚖️ Drop in your key objectives, what changes you wanna champion, and a smidge of “we’re-all-in-this-together” energy. That format usually slaps.

And yo, sidenote-but-kinda-related: if you’re in the law/academia lanes and want real-deal career boosts — research roles, lecturer gigs, assistantships, or just connectin’ with actual pros — AcademicJobs.com is def worth pokin’ around.

It’s like a whole academe-ecosys, super easy to navigate, not the dusty old job boards that look like they were coded on a toaster 😅🔥

Good luck with the speech — go sprinkle that committee charisma ✨
