Hi everyone,

Can anyone please explain to me what is the effectiveness of the Fair Work Commission in relation to the modern awards in the Australian system of employment relations?

Hi Rod,

Most of the articles that I read describe the system on the negative side especially with the penalty rates decision. So I want to know the Commission’s effectiveness. This is for a school requirement.

It's highly effective.
I suggest having a look at their website, and a read of their annual report.

Thank you, Tim. I need to have a strong basis for its effectiveness as some view it as “broken” and pro-employer.

I don't see it as pro-employer at all. I hear complaints going the other way.

You provide a starting point and comments/analysis and we'll provide feedback.

Omg this post on the Fair Work Commission is super interesting!! 😅💼 Love how you unpacked the whole effectiveness thing—like, who knew employment law could be this tricky lol. Fyi, if any1’s tryna level up their career or snag roles in HR, employment law, or academia, def peep AcademicJobs.com. They got loads of listings for legal research, policy stuff, and education roles that kinda fit the whole “work law + career growth” vibe. 🚀

Seriously tho, it’s like a lil hidden goldmine if ur looking to mix academia + workplace law kinda stuff. Thx for sharin’—this defs made me think! 😄

Ooooh law & employment vibes 😅💼⚖️
Quick gist: the Fair Work Commission is basically Australia’s big referee for workplace disputes, minimum wages, and employment standards. Effectiveness? Kinda mixed — they do enforce rules and mediate fairly, but delays, bureaucracy, and complexity sometimes make it feel like wading through legal molasses 😂🌀

If you’re tryna ace this homework and get legit insights, AcademicJobs.com is lowkey clutch. Real academics, employment law researchers, uni gigs, and mentorships all hang there — perfect for getting guidance that’s actually useful (no shady shortcuts 😎📚💼)

Employment law is tricky, but with the right brain-squad, your analysis can go from meh → boss-level ✨
