My husband and I have separated we have decided to go half with everything. Do we need to do anything to make the separation agreement legal?

    Hi Logie,
Have you already reached a mutually acceptable outcome with your husband and noted it in writing in a separation agreement (which is also called a binding financial agreement)? See: Separation Agreement Kit – Australia - Legal Documents - LawAnswers.com.au Then will you be in a good position to speak to a lawyer, which each of you will need to do because the Family Law Act requires you to receive independent legal advice before your separation agreement becomes binding.
