Hello sir,

I am from India. I got married in 2004 with a guy who was also a citizen of India at that time. I was also blessed with a son in 2005. After this we both were living happy and in 2007 my husband solely decided to move to Australia (Sydney) for the purpose of further studies and I supported him.

But suddenly from 2012 he started behaving in an irrational manner and avoided me whenever I used to call him from India. And gradually he intentionally broke contact with me in 2012. And then I decided to knock the door of the Indian Court and after much efforts I came to know that he allegedly married with a woman and he also has two kids with her which is a very shocking thing for me to digest at that moment.

And from 2012 I had been waiting for him, hoping that he will contact me and had become tired to attend court hearings in India but nothing went well for me. So I plead you that please help me to catch such fraudulent person and tell me that what action I can take in Australia so that I can get the justice as it's more than decade as of now and I am the sole sufferer in this case and also I have the responsibility to take care of my child.

An early and a positive reply to this will be greatly appreciated.

Actually it is accepted in many countries that you get married in other countries.

If you are talking about polygamy, it's not legal in Australia.

Sarthak, the offence of bigamy in Australia can lead to up to 5 years in jail. You might want to contact a family law specialist here in Australia or Department of Immigration.
