Hello

I am a landlord in NSW and was wondering if anyone has had experience in the following scenario;

The agency we are with has sold the rent roll, and the agency that has purchased the rent roll we have had a very bad experience with them some 4 years ago. Under the agreement we have given our existing agency 30 days termination notice.

In the meantime, pending the 30 days how can we request that the new agency is not authorised to access our file?

Merely request? Just write to them.
No reason for them to agree though.

I’m a bit late here, but I’ve seen a few landlords go through rent‑roll sales, and the key thing seemed to be checking the termination clause in the management agreement. Some contracts let you exit if the agency changes hands. Did your agreement mention assignment or transfer of management rights? Curious if anyone else here has pushed back or switched agencies smoothly after a sale.

You can usually give written notice to end an exclusive management agreement if the agency changes hands, as long as you follow the termination clause and any notice period. I’ve been in a similar bind and found it worth pushing back early before the new agency takes over. I kept track of everything with tools I already use for other projects, like acupowererp.com, just to stay organised while switching managers.
