Hi There!

I am a casual employee (however, I work full-time hours). I am aware that as a casual employee, I am not entitled to paid annual leave. I would like to know how much leave or time off I can ask for from my employers (obviously unpaid leave since I am only casual) under Employment Law.

I have been working almost every week day from 9am to 5pm (and sometimes on Saturdays) since I started work 2 years ago. Is it fair to ask for 2 weeks of unpaid leave? Or 4 weeks? I am planning a vacation with my family but don't really know the maximum number of weeks leave I am entitled to.

Hi Tina,

I am not aware of any maximum period of leave. It is really up to you and your employer to come to an arrangement that suits you both.

You are not obliged to work nor is an employer obliged to provide you with work.
