My property manager has been negligent in managing my property leading to disastrous consequences for me. Over the past two years he has allowed the tenant to become 10 months in arrears with rent. He has generally not responded to my emailed concerns. He has not attended to repairs I and the tenant have requested. Some of these were urgent and dangerous. Eventually the tenant was taken to the Tribunal and eviction notice was ordered. There was a previous Tribunal hearing apparently but he did not respond in time and so the case had to commence again. A warrant was issued on 30/5. In the meantime, the tenant and property manager (actually he is the principal of the agency) were liasing with Mission Australia to try and reach an agreement (without my knowledge at first). Yesterday evening, 12/6, he notified me that the house was on fire and fire brigade was in attendance. Property is severely damaged - destruction of main living area, kitchen and laundry and extensive water damage throughout the house. If he had managed the property and had the tenant evicted over a year ago, none of this would have happened. I had wanted to sell at that time.
