Hello people,

Firstly I'm asking this for my friend who lives in another country. Recently they have been forced to move out of their house with their Nana due to their Nana having a medical condition that makes them unfit for taking care of my friend. Since then they have moved in with their Dads but have been forced to leave a few personal items behind as per their Nana's demand. One of the object that they have been forced to leave behind is a expensive gaming computer worth well over one thousand dollars. This computer was given to them as a Christmas present with no conditional promises for keeping the computer. My friend is 17 years old and turns 18 in November. I've come here to ask if this computer is by law theirs and if it's up to them if they take the computer home regardless of their Nana's decision.

I've looked online and have read that unless there is a conditional promise made for keeping the object then that object is by law theirs and they may do with it as they wish.

Kind regards, Aaron Flemming.

This an Australian site and our property ownership laws may not be same as theirs.

If the giver and receiver of the gift was in Australia then the receiver of the gift would be able to take the PC wherever they wanted.

It's alright, I marked this question as VIC as that's where they're from. I'm also from Australia but I'm currently living in Thailand. It's a shame I can't edit my post to say this.
