Hello all,

I have a question which unfortunately may or may not be related to this part of the forum. I apologise in advance if that is so.

On my deceased mother's birth certificate which was created in 1961 her fathers name is listed with both an incorrect age and place of birth, but the name is correct.

Does anybody have any knowledge of how birth certificates were created in 1961, did it require the fathers signature? and if there could be any other documents to prove my grandfathers recognition of paternity?

(This information is important to me in relation to proving family lineage of for a citizenship by descent application in another country. From the authorities perspective they seem to see this information as a possibility that the man could be a different person with the same name. Although this is absurd to me, such is the nature of bureauracy.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
