Background info:

I was born in Bosnia, Sarajevo. I'm certain that there have been problems with my birth certificate in the past which I have not been able to resolve due to issues back in Bosnia and the system that was used in the early 90's.

Question:

I am planning to get married next year. I am quite worried about problems that may occur if questions are asked by the state in regards to wedding documents that are needed for the marriage certificate

Does anyone go back and check back with the origin of the certificate?

A birth certificate isn't needed, but you do need proof of identification, such as a passport. Hope this helps.
