QLD When Should Traffic Infringement Notice be Given?

Hi,

My partner received a fine in the mail today (24/10/2016). There is no registration expiry date.

Our street name is spelled incorrectly. Alleged offence details are for 1/4/2016 for following too closely. The car in front refused to hand over details to us.

I was wondering how long after can the traffic infringement notice be given? Also, it was accompanied by a letter stating we were issued a fine on the 1st of April but never got one or saw the officer. The letter states clerical error and assuring another fine.

The date of apparent incident was over 7 months ago. We cannot remember the so-called incident. Why just pay for it when it could be someone else?

Tiffany, I would call this one into question. Demand further details of the incident and don't be fobbed off. It sounds like a fairly trifling matter.
