My ex and i had a child 5 years ago. At about 7months old he left and moved interstate never to be heard of. My child has resided with myself and my other children since day 1. My now husband has been in his life since he was 11 months old and has been through everything with us. We have had an extra 2 children since then and this family is sll he has ever known. Question is is my ex entitled to have any rights in trying to have custody at all after he walked away.

Yes, he is still the child's father.

Your new husband can attempt adoption but it is not easy and may mean opening up contact with the ex.

Another way is give your new husband a limited power of attorney so he can deal with doctors/school/etc.
