For how long ago that he shoplifted before he got caught ? Is there no statue of limitation for this kinda criminal ? Just wondering about that

Theft is an indictable offence and there is no statute of limitations. A summary offence, which this isn’t, would be 12 months.

The passage of time may however have a bearing on evidence. Like if CCTV is still available, for example.
