VIC Suspension of licences

Hello, I have a friend who was told by a doctor they would not be able to drive, because the medicos would inform Vic Roads and their licence would be suspended.
Q1: do medical staff inform Vic Roads of a licence holders health state?
Q2: does Vic Roads suspend licences on medical grounds without informing the licence holder?

Tell your friend to have a read of this.

Has he already been infringed?

As far as I know, no. They haven't received any notification in writing as of this time. If an infringement is normally given, sent to the driver, then I suppose no infringement was issued.
They also haven't done any driving since the release from hospital.
My friend needs to know if Vic Roads would be required by law to let the licence holder know in writing of a restriction of any kind (obviously without identifying the source of any information received by a doctor or such.

I would expect there to be a letter.
If not as a matter of law, then certainly as a matter of
good administrative practice.

Your friend should take steps to do what (sh)he's obliged to do anyway,
which is keep their details current with VicRoads.

In any event, notice from VicRoads or not, your friend will get
no mileage at all out of "I never received the letter", and/or "I had no idea",
and/or "I though there was a grace period".
