Hi

During our 24 years of marriage, we were separated for approx. 4 years and I was wondering if that makes a difference to the property settlement regarding superannuation as this is the only asset in dispute.

If it does make a difference, how much of a difference? Is it worth going back and trying to work out the dates and who was working and how much super was made during those periods?

We are only talking about a difference of $35k in the super balances.

Thanks.

Nope, the asset division is calculated at the time of settlement. Unless it was a short marriage, the assumption is everything is part of the pool and calculated at its value at the time of settlement. So IMO the 4-year hiatus is irrelevant.
