Is it usual for a family lawyer to consult their barrister before preparing an affidavit? The other party is delaying, I believe, and this is the "reason" they gave me.

On what grounds would this occur?

It's only a family law application for spousal maintenance.

How did you go with this?
Its not unusual for lawyers, family lawyers or otherwise, to consult with barristers. Because barristers are generally in court, or deal with court processes, on a daily basis, they have specialist knowledge they can impart.

I hope things haven't been delayed too long for you - it can be quite a long process!
