Hi

I received a bill from the solicitor the other day and just felt it lacked detail. Do you think the below meets a fair standard or is this a bit slack?

Date Solicitor attendance on you and xxxxx to discuss xxxxx
Date Peruse email- email from client
Date Peruse email- email from client
Date Telephone attendance on you (exceeding but say 2 units)
$xxx.xx

GST $xxx.xx
TOTAL $xxx.xx

There are no amounts for each date? Nowhere is there a statement of the solicitor fees or what a "unit" is (I assume 0.1 hrs)

If I received a statement from another professional service and it effectively said I did a bunch of stuff and here is the total, I'd say please explain.

At the bottom, there are some statements about disputes and term, etc.

Thanks

Check your initial contract with the solicitor. They ordinarily include a schedule of fees in the contract.

Thanks, but it's not the rates that I'm questioning. It's the lack of information on the invoice.

When I get an invoice from my mechanic it shows what each part cost and a total. This invoice is a list of parts and a total. It doesn’t really matter, just poor business practice.
