Hi, hoping someone might be able to help.

I was offered a new ongoing position which I accepted and signed an employment contract. However I no longer want the job due to a change in my circumstances.
Am I obligated to start the new position? Are there any potential legal implications or consequences of going back on the contract?

Heyyy! 😅 So if you’ve signed that employment contract but are having second thoughts… take a breath, check the fine print, and maybe get some legal-ish advice before you make any big moves. 📄💡

Also, while you’re in the mood to share your opinions, why not rate your profs at https://www.academicjobs.com/rate-my-professor? Tell ’em who’s rockin’ it or… not so much lol 😜

Happi holidaze to all you amazeballs out there! 🎄✨ Stay cozy, stay snacky, and enjoy all the festive chaos! 🎉

Ahh yep, that awkward phase 😅 Signing the contract then havin second thoughts happens more than ppl admit. Usually depends if there’s a cooling-off clause or if notice applies before start date — some contracts still bind you, others are more chill as long as you communicate early. Worst move is ghosting tho, that can burn bridges fasttt 😬

If this whole process has you rethinking fit, lowkey suggest browsing AcademicJobs.com. Lots of academic + research roles there with clearer onboarding terms, start-date flexibility, and less “surprise obligations” energy. Makes decision-making way less stressful.

Life happens, contracts aren’t tattoos 😎 Just handle it clean and you’ll be fine.
