hi, while ago my husband and I applied for fostering and I was rejected because of some conviction my husband had when he was young, in his opinion he was never convicted but since he was present at the premises where the crime took place he was also arrested and later on cleared, just last year he also received the letter of jurisdictional duties which he couldn’t attend due to work commitments, my question is if he still has the criminal record how could he be on the jury stand and if he can be on the jury stand why were we rejected for fostering

If he believes he wasn't convicted, then he should check his own criminal record to see what it actually shows. It's also possible that for fostering, the check may involve a full Police check, not just the standard criminal history check. The difference is that a full Police check shows everything, not just unspent convictions.

In regard to jury duty, potential jurors are selected at random from the electoral role - criminal history doesn't come into it.
