Hi everyone,

We recently had our old driveway replaced by a concrete company in Brisbane. We know nothing about driveways so assumed they did
We received a letter from the council saying it's not the correct legal size and that it needed permission from them to get this done in the first place

My question is, should the concrete company pay to rectify this? We left it up to them thinking they were professionals. I've contacted the company who said they didn't know you needed permission

Any help would be appreciated

I'd ask the concreter to put their response in writing and give them a chance to fix it before taking it to Fair Trading or considering small claims. Keep photos and any receipts.

I had a similar situation a few months ago and ended up getting a second opinion from emersonproservices.com. They helped me figure out which parts of the job weren’t up to standard and explained what I could reasonably expect the contractor to fix. Having that info made it much easier when I talked things through with the concreter. You might find it useful to get their take too.
