NSW Legal Costs in Tort Matters

Are solicitors fees costs capped in Tort matters? I know they are in personal injury.

A friend has been offered a settlement where 3 per cent goes to them and 97 per cent goes in legal costs and disbursements.

It does not seem fair.

Any advice I can give to them?

So there is no maximum percentage they can claim in any settlement?

How can 97% be a fair and reasonable amount? Is it a common outcome?
