My girlfriend has a lawyer to help her with consent orders, superannuation and financial settlement. She had a retainer of $3k which has now gone and she still has nothing sorted. The lawyer is now requesting a further $3k retainer as well as settlement of $1000 that is outstanding. However the lawyer's communication has been very poor, many unanswered emails, a few mistakes on their part which has added to the bill, they've upped their hourly rate and still have not sent an itemised bill despite it being requested. She has now received a final demand letter for the $1000 outstanding. But should she pay this or request the lawyer send her the information she has requested as well as replying to the numerous emails and rectifying their mistakes? She has paid for these services.
