If immigration did an investigation can they tell what computer sent emails to other person?

My understanding is that a computer forensic expert can find out that information. They may well engage one in their investigation.
The Department of Immigration has an "Immigration dob-in service" page that has a little bit of information about how people can make a report to the department and their subsequent process.
