QLD I got bitten by a dog

Hi I have bitten by a dog in Ipswich Already in ipswich city council i have given statement and registered a compliant

The backyard of the house was unlocked and the latch wasn't locking properly. This what the council is saying Maybe a case of negligence.

I am student here in Australia and the incident happened today Please advice in regards to compensation Can i claim Thank you
