I sold a bike to a guy and he transferred $6k and said he would pay the remaining 5k cash. As he was a friend of a friend I let him take the bike. A week later he messaged me and said the bike overheated. I had never had an issue. But in good faith I said take it to a repairer and find out what the issue and I may be able to help. He never took it anywhere so I picked it up this week and took it to a bike shop and was just a simple issue with the electric fan. He has now sent me a message wanting me to refund his money. In the 6 months he had it he left it outside even though he told me it was undercover and it has rusted and faded significantly. I always kept it out of the weather.

what are my options?

You send him a text and say when he pays the balance he can have the bike back. Check the status the rego as well.
