WA Defamation

Hi all, about 4 years ago I found out that I had been slandered for something particularly heinous but not to my face. The organisations is 4 or more large Local governments, RSL WA and the WA state Government. I have considered about bringing the WA police. Any advice?

Unfortunately most states defamation acts have strict limitation periods of 1 year only. Many other torts or civil liabilities are 6 years.
