We are a Sydney-based financial services business with an office in Canberra.

If we are taking legal action regarding breaches of promises should we appoint a legal representative in NSW or would it be advantageous to have legal representation in the state where the issue has occurred?

Property is state based. You should always go with someone who practises in property law for the state/territory in which the property is situated - note that doesn't necessarily mean the lawyer is in that state/territory.

Thank you Rob. We have representation with different lawyers in each state but wasn't sure. I will check with each to see which would be best to handle this.
