Due to a business failure, I declared personal bankruptcy and finished my 3 years at the start of this year. It looks like Telstra has assigned the rights to a debt included in that bankruptcy to Credit Corp who are chasing payment. Can anyone provide help on the best way to respond to their correspondence given the debt would now be over three years old?

Thank you.

To be clear, the debt you are being chased for is your debt, was incurred prior to becoming bankrupt and was disclosed in statement of creditors?

If so, give Credit Corp the details of your bankruptcy. As you’ve completed your bankruptcy, the debt is released and extinguished. There are few exceptions to this (such as a debt incurred by fraud).
